Doc's best idea all weekend.

the best thing about a 4star hotel is you can be a rock star. we called up at the front desk and DEMANDED they bring us highlighters multiple times.

Stop spending. I'm serious.

OK. I just turned my $22 grand in debt to $24. Too many concerts this summer. I spent a whole paycheck on concerts and kept spending on my Discover as if I have money in the bank. This sucks. Music Entertainment will be the death of my credit standing. I should move to a desert island where there are no impulse buys.

DEMF - Monday

Started out with a wonderful Midwest Product on the Underground Stage. They started to wean a bit into some 80s covers and I went to get some food and listened from the cafeteria.

Funked out at the High Tech Soul stage, I beleive it was Brad Hales giving me quite a good time.

I caught Eddie Fowlkes at the Music Institute stage. He played a wicked Radiohead or two.

The Michigan Weather always gets you on an outdoors event and the rain that ensued this day was no surprise to anyone. Purposely unprepared, the crowds took not ponchos out, but moved to the tent which is the Music Institute stage and the cover of the Underground stage. Some danced in slippery pools of water as performances kept on at the open aired Movement and High Tech soul stages.

I bounced around a bit with Karen and then took off as the cold was getting to me and Emperor had other plans for me.

DEMF - Sunday

Sunday was great. The weather was fantastic. Saturday could have been just as good but I wasn't around as much, I thought there weren't too many other people around either, I was disappointed at Saturday's turnout.

Sunday was a different story. Every burg from downriver to lansing had representation. Chicago and Toronto folks were also in effect. People worried less about terrorist attacks and more about SARS outbreaks.

The 6:00 Carl Craig and Detroit Experiment set was when I realized I have more fun alone than with people. It's much easier to navigate crowds!

I caught an incredible Akufen set in the Underground stage. Followed by a cosmic experience on the High Tech Soul stage.

DEMF - Saturday

Saturday was the ease-in day. Real life was just a single day ago, so its best to sleep in and get some rest. The spectacle which will the waking hours of days to come will require your body's endurance. The 2003 Detroit Electronic Music Festival is not to be taken lightly.

Doc wanted to see someone at Noon, but I convinced him much later would be a better arrival time.
No parking at our hotel as there are 400 rooms and 160 spots. This is complete bullshit as the girls in line behind me were bragging about how they get things like PARKING SPACES by just being cutesy and aggressive.

Saw a great Ectomorph set at 3pm at the Underground Stage. Ended up seeing the girl singing at a party a day later. She wore a shirt that made me laugh but I forget what it said.

Liquid Liquid was also at the Underground stage, but I can't remember how I felt about them. I was moving around a lot at this point. Kevin Saunderson + Kenny Larkin at the Movement stage. And so on and so forth.

By night's end I had two foreign ladies dancing with me. When introduced to a third, I was quickly surrounded and claimed "he's mine." Ain't no cat fight, like a Chech/German/South African cat fight.

I'm moving onto Sunday. More details to come.

It Must Suck To Get The Shits When You're A Bum

When approached for alms, it's best to give someone food, or a People Mover token. They can ride the staple of Detroit mass transit to Greektown. If I was homeless and I living in Detroit, I would love Greentown. Everyone has carryout food. Who can finish a Greek dinner? Maybe an Italian.

You don't see too many of them in Mexican Town, and here's why: it must suck to get the shits when you're a bum.

the bachelor gets it

Well we took out Mike Connor.

We abducted him from his fiance's house. Pillowcase over his head and a tackle from 4 of his friends. Into the car and on with the blindfold. We switched cars a lot and talked in fake German accents. We gave him vague details of where we were:

"We're by a subway"
"We're turning onto a boulevard"
"I see a Standard Federal Bank"

But before long his senses came to him, as he lost his sight the other senses got better.

He remarked:
"I feel the Sun, has it stopped raining?"
"I think I smell cheap rubber masks" (we were not wearing any.)

To the airfield and onto a plane.
"I think I'm in a race car."

And then off the ground and over to Chicago for what must have been the most exciting Bachelor Party ever.

I had to go back to work, and there was only room for 6 on the plane.

Soon I will edit the footage and share it with you all. It's too funny not to watch.
