HAPPY NEW YEAR

Was it totally weird today that it was all snow last night and this morning was totally wet green grass??

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO TONIGHT
.. I think I'm gonna go to Grand Rapids and trip on Mushrooms.

Plus this girl said she'd kiss me at midnight..

We have no mistletoe but she said she will kiss my toes.

I don't work until Monday... I wish there was enough time to drive to New York City... but Grand Rapids can be fun.

THEY LOVE ME

It's not often you can save the day the moment you walk in the door.

GM peeps needed a quicktime of thier show but the only copy on CD was at someones house. I walk in they halt the conference call with executives to grab me and let me know what they need. I can't find the files from the laptop because it couldn't see all the files of the network, so i quickly ran to another computer and copied the file to an FTP site where I could see it from the clients laptop and downloaded it for them to view during the call.

I've already gotten major props from the boss in the last 2 weeks for other heroic activities... so they don't hate me anymore (there was about 2 months of some bad shit floating aroung this fall)

so basically.. I'm not looking for a new job anymore and I am most likely gonna be sent to a training course in the spring to learn a digital editing computer that only about 600 people know how to use... which means in 2 years I could be making 5X more money than I do now. (That's a lot of comic books)

Creative Cities of the MidWest

This is my MySpace bulletin i just posted in my Midwest Creatives group.

What does the MidWest bring to the table these days?

There are so many of us spread so far, yet we hold something to ourselves that no other part of the country is capable of.

We are diverse in ourselves, without even counting the immigrated population.

Look at the sounds of those raised in the MidWest in terms of dialect. We don't do the drawl. We don't do the Californian thing. It's not like Boston, it's nothing like New York.

It's not even like itself. Chicago doesn't sound like the U.P. Michigan but it's not quite that Kentucky twang nor the Canadian sounds of dropping those O's. It's not Indiana but different than Detroit.

We creatively show ourselves so much more than those plastic personalitiies from other places like Hollywood or even the glimmer of that Vegas town.

It may be wet. It may get cold. It may turn grey. It may get blinding from the reflections of that sun against that snow.

We get to watch the seasons. That long awaited taste of summer. That garden can feed you, then you watch the leaves fall.

Then the snow comes out to play as you watch the year pass the yule turns around when you think to yourself.

2005
This will be my year.

I started this post with the intention of asking what has already been said in the forums in the group.

Which city represents the MidWest the most?

I am biased, when I listed the cities, it's warped by my perspective.

Hailing from:
Detroit. Chicago. Akron, Crystal Lake, Madison, Michigan City, Toledo, Windsor ONT,Grand Rapids. Cleveland. Ann Arbor. Nashville. St. Louis. Indianapolis. Toronto ONT, Minneapolis. Milkwaukee. Topeka. Kansas City. Lexington. Cinncinnati. St. Paul. Louisville. Dayton. Fort Wayne. Flint. Erie. Buffalo. London ONT.

Michigan. Illinois. Ohio. Illinois. Wisconsin. Indiana. Ohio. Ontario, Michigan. Ohio. Michigan. Tennessee. Missouri. Indiana. Ontario. Minnesota. Wisconsin. Kansas. Kentucky. Ohio. Minnesota. Kentucky. Ohio. Indiana. Michigan. Ohio. New York. Ontario.

What goes third? Notice I didn't ask first. Detroit. Chicago. That's not changing. That's like the epicenter of the heart and soul of the MidWest.

Some may say if your rainwater doesn't drain in the Great Lakes then don't come a'knocking for fresh water cause buddy we are FRESH OUT so you better start buying stock in evian. Let's hope they can fish deeper than whatever we do to our water supply. Maybe we could all live to triple digits.

OK, I jest when i say don't come a knockin... I got love for all you folk, EVEN IF YOU HAVE MOVED TO CALIFORNIA OR NEW YORK CITY. Yes that means you Motown's Hope and that Windy City Frankie D who's moonlighting in tinsel town these days!?!!

Remember. THIRD. You say first in the initial sentence and i just may not read it!!!

-MOTOWN FEVER

err i mean
DAN

p.s. I think I answered it when i said THIS WILL BE MY YEAR. You see... thats a Semisonic line. Which means Minneapolis wins. #3 baby, congratulations, you just kicked Ohio's ass, and everyone can appreciate that!!!

I am going to AmsterJam

I GOT MY PASSPORT TODAY!!!

Which means I am currently logging into NWA.com to purchase my plane tickets Detroit>London on 3/9 and Amsterdam>Detroit on 3/23.

What happens in the middle is still up in the air. I will be seeing Particle, Keller Williams, Disco Biscuits and Umphrey's McGee at the AmsterJam Music Festival my final days in Europe but up until that point I am basically bouncing around as I couch surf around friends houses.

HOLY SHIT DO I LOOK LIKE A TERRORIST ON MY PASSPORT PIC. I am gonna get my ass searched with a rubber glove I can feel it already. I better plan for delays at every border.

Sometimes I wish I was more Finnish than Armenian but not often...
