Snow Day

HELPLESS - The Band, Neil Young & Joni Mitchell - The Last Waltz

Baby can you hear me now?
The chains are locked and tied across the door,
Baby, sing with me somehow.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless.

NO WOMAN NO CRY - Bob Marley live in 1974

I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in trenchtown,
Oba - obaserving the ’ypocrites
As they would mingle with the good people we meet.
Good friends we have, oh, good friends we’ve lost
Along the way.
In this great future, you can’t forget your past;
So dry your tears, I seh.

No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
’ere, little darlin’, don’t shed no tears:
No, woman, no cry.

Holy crap. I just found out lyrics I thought I knew were totally wrong. I thought it was such an amazing phrase. I have to go register a .com now...

Which Sublime Song?

Not sure what I think of this. I always pegged myself a Scarlett Begonia. OH WAIT THAT WASN'T THEIR SONG!

Which Sublime song are you?

What I Got

You don't cry when your dog runs away, you don't get angry at the bills you have to pay. You don't get angry when your mom smokes pot, hits the bottle and goes right to the rock. And you can play the guitar like a motherf...flippin' riot.

My First Comic Book Dream - At Age 28

I haven't woken myself up out of a dream due to FEAR in a long long time.

The details are hazy but I know the reason I was waking myself up was that I was shouting "SPIDER-MAN HELP" as Venom was about to take over my body.

You don't fuck with Venom.

For some reason Eddie Brock was over but Venom needed a new host. Two girl superheroes were there, One The Canary and One The X-Factor (??!?!) She dressed like Bat-Girl but in green.

There was a major super hero too but I forget who he was. Eddie Brock came to him for help thats how the whole thing started. I thought he was an Avenger and called the two girl Avengers over but those girls don't make any sense at all One should have been the Scarlet Witch and the other should have been the Wasp

In hind sight I wish I hadn't awoken myself but my fear was that I was shouting out to Spider-Man and I knew he wasn't even there.

See.. When I sleep at WORK.. (something that happens a lot this time of year) There is a Spider-Man there. If I had been at work I would have been fine, Spidey would have kicked his ass for me.

Let's settle our differences, webhead!

Apple doesn't always get it right.

When Mac OSX goes STUPID...

This is to help others searching for info on the internet. I hope you find it quicker than I did.

Changing the default preference to stop iPhoto from auto launching when you connect a digital camera.

The wizards at Apple put this preference in Applications/Image Capture (Some older systems have it in Applications/Utilities) Launch preferences from THIS app and you can stop iPhoto from launching when you connect a digital camera to the USB/Firewire port.

Changing the default preference to stop Safari from being your default browwer.
After you download FireFox from mozilla.org you can make it your default browser from the Safari 'General' preferences.

quicktime alpha channel woes

The best part about working where I do is that I get to match wits with some of the most talented and intelligent brains in Animation and Visual Effects.

I COULD NOT GET SOMETHING TO WORK TONIGHT.. but the incredibly talented Mr. Wirth could NOT GET IT TO WORK EITHER.

So after he was done trying and went back to his own work, I tried two other ways and consulted the internet. I couldn't find anything about the software I was using (discreet flame & combustion) however I did find some Avid people vaguely talking about 32-bit images. I noticed our software was only running at 8.

I could not find 32-bit as an option anywhere. I consulted Mr. Wirth again. He came back to work his magic in 16-bit float workspace.

BOOM IT WORKED.

Together, Wirth and I can do anything!!

(OK.. whatever.. by himself he can pretty much do anything but it still feels good to be deeply involved in the process.)

holy bling fucking bling

The sucky thing about working in film in detroit in the winter is that you have no holidays and no social life, year after year of neglecting people, your friends dwindle. The autoshow just kills your free time. Advertising is soul-less and eventually it will eat you up inside.

I've been so busy I haven't even turned in overtime since the middle of November. I just figured it all out tonight finally, and if they approve what I submitted I may be getting a $2000 check this week in addition to my regular salary.

CASINO ANYONE?!?!

Actually I'm gonna pay my mom and brother back and buy this digital camera. even tho I would rather spend $500 more and get the digital rebel.

oh the choices.. the choices...

Garden State kicks ass.

Garden State is the best romantic comedy I've seen since Annie Hall. It's exactly the kind of movie I've always wanted to make myself. It's funny, charming, romantic, insightful and fresh. The on-screen talent work amazingly well together. The small details take it a step further.

If I had read the script to this film I would have quit my job for the chance to help make it happen.

It's so hard to write for myself after seeing such a good film. I have the tendacy to lift ideas and cinematic compositions from movies I totally love. So I have to just brainstorm and work out full ideas later or else I end up editing all the stolen ideas out later and it's so much harder than just coming up with new ideas from the beginning.

This movie said so many things I've been thinking in recent years but could never quite put into words or realize to the extent that they were verbalized in the movie. Zach Braff is a fucking genius. I am seriously going to watch this movie every day for the next month.

I hated the ending SOOO much the first time I saw it. Now I think it fits... If you've seen it i'll tell you why but I won't ruin it for everyone else. If I could change anything I would add one more shot at the end.

colours

Well I'm not exactly sure what color my hair is now. The girls used pink, blue, red, yellow and tried to create their own colors as well.

I'm with Rita and Grace and we are all out of PUNK COLOURS and MANIC PANIC and whatever other brands of hair dye are on my head right now.

(Can you tell I've ended the job search and I plan to stay put for a while?)

I'm about to go get some dinner with 5 or so Grand Rapids friends.

I wanna hit up the BOB but Mark says NO WAY. Awwwww. I haven't been there since like 1998.

It's 2005!

Well I ended up watching Regis host the Dick Clark Rockin' New Years Eve!! Oh yea. Kickin' it oldschool style with 2 good friends. We went to Don Pablo and got some food and beverage and settled in with a playstation 2 game of monopoly. They had no interest in Rita's party, so we didn't go.

Exciting I know!!

Tomorrow I will see Rita, Jason. Hopefully Rob and others. I don't get to Grand Rapids often, I can hardley beleive it's now 5 years since I moved away from here. Wild.

There may be a new trailer for Too Dead To Die before I go home. WOO HOO.

My goal for 2005: To become so familiar with the St. Andrews Hall staff that they call me by name when I walk in, I don't ever have to pay, and they let me record anything I want with my DAT.
