The Woods Valentine's Candy - The Slip

the woods - valentine's candy by The Slip (unreleased)

i was in my car
when i scratched my head
wondering what it was my good book said
sometimes your foe might be your friend
ya never really know until the end

sometimes i have nowhere to go
i wouldn't be lying if i did say so
if i were you then i'd watch out
'cause a worried mans walking about
sit by the wood
don't ya know how bad i would
if i could take it back
finally treat it like we should
like the redman understood
there goes the neighborhood

if theres one thing i know to be true
let what you love be what you do
and it may take time to tear down walls
but anything big must first be small

sometimes i have nowhere to go
i wouldn't be lying if i did say so
if i were you then i'd watch out
theres a worried mans walking about

oh to sit by the wood
don't you know how fast i could
put myself upon a train
and maybe never be seen again
become an outlaw on the fringe
i know that makes you crindge

i was in my car
when i scratched my head
wondering what it was my good book said
sometimes your foe might be your friend
ya never really know until the end

if theres one thing i know to be true
let what you love be what you do
and it may take time to tear down walls
but anything big must first be small

oh to sit by the wood
don't you know how fast i could
put myself upon a train
and maybe never be seen again
and take it home to you
who knows what we could do
?? if we ever need a few??
put ourselves upon a train
and maybe never be seen again
and take it home to you
who knows what we could do
we could take it back for good
finally treat it like we should
like we always understood
there goes the neighborhood
there goes the neighborhood
there goes the neighborhood
there goes the neighborhood
there goes...

Convert OSX Address Book VCF to CSV

For my Macintosh folks...

Exporting contacts from Address book? check out this script

It's a perl script that converts OSX Address Book VCard (.vcf) files to the standard .csv files that yahoo, PDAs, hotmail and other applications use.

You will have to get your UNIX fingers ready because you have to run the perl script in the OSX Terminal. it's not hard just remember that your home folder is ~ so if the files are on your desktop you would type perl parsevcf_utf16 ~/Desktop/import_file.vcf ~/Desktop/export_file.csv

drunk on the water

Last night was amazing. After a very shitty day, an animator took me out. I asked for Mexican town, I was expecting a quiet dinner and a few drinks with just the two of us talking about work and the future and my current situation.

We talked a little bit about it on the way down, and the rest of the time problems were forgotten. I met 4 friends of his I hadn't previously known. One of the guys was from Miama and he had a thick Cuban accent.

His motto was "Don't worry about tomorrow, or even 5 minutes from now. Drink!"

It seemed to work, and after 4 Margarita carafes I wasn't worried about anything.

Then we drove to the riverfront and took off on a boat.

They said to look up and low and behold we were underneath the Ambassador Bridge. It looked amazing, Detroit from the water is truly a sight to behold. Being drunk in international waters is a fun time, there were a few times where we were 15 feet from Canada.

Sometime after 1am we came back to work and I passed out on a couch. Now I'm wishing I still kept extra clothes here, but alas I will be a dirty hippie today.

Bonnaroo Music Festival 2005

I just got back from my weekend in Tennessee. Can't write a ton but here's some fun pics!

We left from Lansing. It was the first excursion like this for me and the two Marks. We look tired before we even got in the car.

I left What stage to meet the boys at Which Stage. We took a stroll to That Tent passing by This Tent. In the distance, we could hear The Other Tent. The stage names are confusing, everyone sounds like an Abbott & Costello skit when you try to talk about where you're going

I got to dance with Tara from Pennsylvania. She rocks. I met her on MySpace.

Mark is China-eyed as usual. I am a sweaty mess.. as usual.

Andrea came from Indiana. She kicks ass. I met her on MySpace.

Here's a great midnight self portrait. Oh yea.

You can't rain on our parade. We didn't quite plane for hurricane-spawned weather, but we dealt with it OK. Even when we thought we'd lose the tent in the wind.

We made some good friends at the campsite and then later we would dance together. This is Meg and Jennifer, we basically made one huge mega-campsite together and had a blast.

The now infamous Bonnaroo arch. It's a good landmark when you're lost.

Toot's and the Maytals gave us a nice reggae start to the day on Sunday.

Totally randomly, I bumped into LJ user SexyPlexy and she even recognized me with blonde hair and came up to say hi. How people continue to point me out at hippie festivals where 1 out of 2 guys look just like me I will never know but it happens a lot.

Plexy and another hottie from the back. Those hippie dresses are awesome from the back.

This is my "did the photo take yet" face.

Bob Weir giving us a taste of the old Grateful Dead tunes. I didn't realize when I took the shot that he was LOOKING RIGHT AT ME. hahaha awesome.

My Morning Jacket had so much energy I loved them. I wish I saw the full set.

Robert Randolph and John Medeski. Giving us The Word.

Herbie Hancock.. a jazz legend!!!

A Surprise special guest for the 2005 Bonnaroo SuperJam.. The Root's drummer
?uestlove.

Herbie Hancock and ?uestlove jam... so delicious for the ears!

I hate driving in Ohio.

Over The Top

In 1987 I bought the cassette tape for the motion picture soundtrack to Over The Top. I never saw the movie but I wore the cassette tape thru so you could hear the other side play in reverse.

I was on amazon.com looking up some Miles Davis and moe. CDs and I came across a very cheap costing CD of the Over The Top Soundtrack. Of course I had to buy it.

My CDs have arrived today, 3 hours before I leave on a road trip to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennesse...so I am very lucky I get to listen to it today.

I'm sure my friends are going to be like "Why the fuck are we listening to Kenny Loggins" when Meet Me Half Way comes on the iPod. I will probably be made fun of, but I don't care because I remember myself as that 11 year old jamming out to a cassette tape after riding my bike to Harmony House and probably paying $20 for it. LOL
