UI upgrades!

Discreet Closes Multi-Million Dollar Deal with Universal Images

Leading Post-Production Company to Standardize Facility on Discreet for High Definition and Standard Definition Television Production

[Suggestion: Leading Post-Production Company Standardize Facility on Discreet Solutions to Address Growing Number of Higher Definition Television Productions]

Montreal, Quebec-October XX, 2003-Discreet, a division of Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSK), today announced that Universal Images, a leading post-production company based in Southfield, MI, has signed a multi-million dollar purchase to upgrade and grow its production capabilities and standardize its entire facility on Discreet's state-of-the art visual effects, editing and finishing solutions.

Universal Images' High-Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) production capabilities will be given a significant boost with the addition of six new smoke¨ HD and SD editing and finishing systems, and upgrades to its existing two smoke systems, inferno¨ and four flame¨ visual effects design systems. Universal Images added backdrafttm to implement leading edge high speed networking, background I/O and archiving, and file sharing in an uncompressed media environment. Universal Images also expanded productivity in visual effects design with the addition of burn¨, Discreet's new background rendering solution, along with combustion¨ and 3DS Max¨, thereby fully leveraging the outstanding and unique performance of the overall Discreet solution. Universal Images will also be upgrading all of their hardware platforms and storage and have purchased 13 Silicon Graphics¨ Tezro(tm) visual workstations to deliver unprecedented levels of performance at any format and resolution.

Universal Images was particularly impressed by the performance of the new Silicon Graphics Tezro visual workstation and the powerful new creative tools of smoke 6, unveiled at IBC. These include Discreet's next-generation Master Keyer and Total Resolution Freedom: new capabilities that enable media of any resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate to be edited together in a single timeline and mastered in any format. smoke 6 on the Tezro workstation ensures that clients like Universal Images have a future-proof solution for the increasingly growing number of Higher Definition assignments.

The purchase was concluded after an extensive review of the latest solutions from a range of manufacturers at the International Broadcasting Conference (IBC) trade show last month and resulted in the elimination of all non Discreet editing and effects solutions.

"We are extremely impressed with Discreet's vision and direction. Few manufacturers understand the needs of both the artist and the facility owner so completely, and only Discreet creates the innovative post-production solutions that give our artists unsurpassed creative outlets, while providing a powerful workflow that differentiates our business," said Chris Laport, President of Universal Images. "No other systems come close to Discreet in terms of the sheer performance, workflow, creative capabilities, and therefore productivity. For this reason we decided to upgrade to smoke from our Avid DS|HD systems and remove our Quantel Edit boxes from our facility-and become a business with a complete Discreet workflow."

"We are delighted that Universal Images is standardizing on Discreet systems," said Paul Lypaczewski, general manager of Discreet and executive vice-president of Autodesk, Inc. "Our innovative and cost-effective solutions will help them to benefit rapidly from the growing need for high-definition content. Once again, this contract confirms that Discreet is the clear standard for delivering creativity and productivity to post-production facilities around the world."

UI provides visual effects and post production for a wide array of advertising agencies, creative editorial houses, and production and communication companies. remind me not to date any spiders

"The percentage of post-copulatory cannibalisms were certainly nothing out of the ordinary," she said.
Despite their reputation, not all species of female spiders eat their mates and suitors.
"Some may just see the males as food," Hebets said.
"Some incorporate cannibalism into mating. In some, the females are actually eating the male while he is inserting sperm."

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! WE ARE GOIN TO PHISH BABY

No one we know got tickets. Except the Dan-Man. Sittin at my sister Chrissy's computer with my powerbook on my lap trying both computers simultaneously. I have this online ticket ordering thing down to a science. Everytime I got in within seconds of being on sale. The second computer would always have a 6-9 minute longer wait than the first computer (on the ethernet went faster than the airport laptop obviously.) and they were only sent about 20 seconds apart. i needed a backup computer in case the first order got screwed. (like boston which crapped out during my credit card processing..)

MOT (mit out technology)

just got my laptop back. they said there wasn't a problem with it. however. it doesn't crash any more when i plug the ipod in. i reinstalled the system myself and that didn't fit it and i sent it to apple.
i also don't have my cellphone. motorola is fixing the battery.

about two weeks ago i didn't have an ipod. they replaced it when i took it in when it first started making my computer crash. they replaced it with a brand new ipod. there wasn't one in stock so i had to wait about 4 days. they wouldn't let me pay the difference and upgrade

now when my phone rings i don't know who it is because the temporary phone doesn't sync with my mac without a cable i don't own.
